This <b data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"241\">ATEM Mini Extreme G2 frequency bug<\/b> causes the signal to be present according to the analyzer, but your screen does not show an image. <\/p><p data-path-to-node=\"4\">We have gone into technical analysis and have a clear opinion on it.<\/p><h3 data-path-to-node=\"5\">The Problem: The EDID Handshake Fails<\/h3><p data-path-to-node=\"6\">The technical cause lies in the communication via <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Extended_Display_Identification_Data\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EDID.<\/a><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-inner-section elementor-element elementor-element-c129bfc elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"c129bfc\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-54fa67e\" data-id=\"54fa67e\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-910b63b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"910b63b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<blockquote style=\"margin-left: 8px; border-left: 5px solid #ccc; padding-left: 15px;\">\n<strong>What is EDID?<\/strong>\nEDID (Extended Display Identification Data) is your monitor&#8217;s digital ID card. The theory: The ATEM tries to update its internal table of supported formats while connected to the monitor. A conflict arises if a frequency lower than the usual 50 Hz or 60 Hz is selected.  <\/p><p data-path-to-node=\"9\"><b data-path-to-node=\"9\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The important thing about it:<\/b> This problem occurs with <b data-path-to-node=\"9\" data-index-in-node=\"49\">most conventional monitors<\/b> (standard PC screens, TVs). Only dedicated (and usually expensive) <b data-path-to-node=\"9\" data-index-in-node=\"162\">field monitors<\/b> are often not affected. Why? These professional devices have internal converters that automatically adjust the incoming frame rate to the standard that the display needs internally for display. Conventional monitors are much more inflexible and simply drop out.    <\/p><h3 data-path-to-node=\"10\">Our assessment: This is a bug!<\/h3><p data-path-to-node=\"11\">Even though support sees the behavior of the monitors as the cause here, we stick to <b data-path-to-node=\"11\" data-index-in-node=\"97\">it: This EDID synchronization in the ATEM has errors.<\/b> All previous Blackmagic Design switchers with HDMI outputs have worked smoothly. There is no conclusive reason why a traditional monitor should suddenly stop communicating with the mixer just because the frequency is lower. Therefore, we have filed a bug report to have this <b data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"308\">ATEM Mini Extreme G2 frequency bug <\/b>fixed as soon as possible.  <\/p><h3 data-path-to-node=\"12\">Your workaround: How to get a picture anyway<\/h3><p data-path-to-node=\"13\">Until Blackmagic Design fixes up, there&#8217;s a simple trick to get around the problem. You need to force the handshake at a stable frequency: <\/p><ol start=\"1\" data-path-to-node=\"14\"><li><p data-path-to-node=\"14,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"14,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Always start with at least 50p: <\/b> First, set your ATEM to <b data-path-to-node=\"14,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"73\">1080p50 <\/b>in the settings. Almost every monitor detects this signal immediately.<\/p><\/li><li><p data-path-to-node=\"14,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"14,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Switch on the fly:<\/b> When the image is there, change the frequency to your target value (e.g. <b data-path-to-node=\"14,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"132\">1080p25<\/b>) in the ATEM Software Control. <\/p><\/li><li><p data-path-to-node=\"14,2,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"14,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Do not turn off:<\/b> As long as the ATEM is running, the monitor usually &#8220;holds&#8221; the connection, even if it doesn&#8217;t actually like the frequency.<\/p><\/li><li><p data-path-to-node=\"14,3,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"14,3,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Before the end of the day:<\/b> Before you turn off the system, reset the frequency back to <b data-path-to-node=\"14,3,0\" data-index-in-node=\"84\">50p<\/b> and save this state (<b data-path-to-node=\"14,3,0\" data-index-in-node=\"125\">Save Startup State<\/b>). So you are guaranteed to have a picture again the next time you start. <\/p><\/li><\/ol><h3 data-path-to-node=\"15\">Conclusion<\/h3><p data-path-to-node=\"16\">If your setup stays black at 25p, it&#8217;s not your monitor or cable. It is a bug in the startup process of the ATEM G2 at all frequencies below 50p.
